Gated community design guidelines are mostly about the exterior appearances of buildings from the view of the greater community. Guidelines are intended to help maintain neighborhood values (dollars not necessarily standards). Though respecting neighbors remains important, higher in the priority of design concerns (in my opinion after many years leading various design review committees) are the opportunities within the home interiors and within the enclosed private yards...HAPPY HOME within the private domain leads to HAPPY NEIGHBORHOOD.
