Greer's Seasons

Located in Arizona’s White Mountains, Aspen trees are clustered on the hillsides and at the edges of lush meadow lands. Deciduous treesAspens change seasonally. As an form of public art, the Greer Community Facilities Association approved my specifications for pressing aspen leaves into the exposed concrete flooring of the center. While concrete subcontractors typically want to avoid(leaves falling onto a slab while finishing the surface), I encouraged this.  Thus, leaves were strategically dropped to the curing surface of the concrete by the concrete finishers, where they carefully managed their troweling machines over each leaf. As the drying leaves began to curl up from thier pressed condition,  a fossil-like reminder of Greer's seasonal beauty was left offering a little fun for center visitors.
