Arizona's Yarnell Hill Wildfire

A tragedy in Yarnell Arizona. Lighting strikes the dry countryside, and hours later one hundred plus Yarnell structures were consumed and 19 Prescott hotshot fire fighter lives lost.  PUBLIC SERVANTS…EXTREME!

I took this photo soon after a fire in June 2011 on the Greer bridge at the entry to the Village of Greer.  My understanding is that the fire fighters, during this fire, evacuated their ongoing ground efforts (one of the efforts being the protection of my family’s cabin) to escape the rage of the Wallow Fire, as it crested the Ponderosa forest ridges above Greer. We lost our family cabin in that fire, but thankfully on that day no firefighters.

Our condolances to each and every family or friend regarding this one!
